Kingston International Business College (KIBC), in collaboration with Rotary Greenlane, proudly hosted a high-impact Sustainability Panel Discussion at The Icehouse in Auckland’s Parnell district. Bringing together experts from academia, industry, and the community, the event served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue on the future of clean energy, environmental governance, and social innovation.

KIBC’s commitment to sustainability is deeply embedded in its educational philosophy and institutional development. As a leading institution for global business education, KIBC actively fosters environmental consciousness through its dedicated Sustainability Centre, led by Dr. Omer Nazir and Dr. Bo Lin. The Centre integrates ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into curriculum design, research, and strategic partnerships.

Inspiring Perspectives From Thought Leaders

The evening event featured keynote contributions from four influential leaders:

  • Dr. Omer Nazir, Research Lead at KIBC Sustainability Centre, spoke on the intersection of technology, ethics, and social change, challenging participants to think critically about the broader implications of business and technological advancement.
  • Dr. Bo Lin, Operations Lead at KIBC Sustainability Centre, emphasized actionable strategies for integrating ESG practices into business operations and higher education, drawing from over 20 years of academic and consulting experience.
  • Siva Kilari, Founder of Universal Solar, highlighted the progress of his 5MW solar farm in Northland and his mission to make renewable energy more accessible and affordable across New Zealand.
  • Chris Choi, CEO of AGMC Partners, shared insights on green venture capital and sustainable enterprise development, particularly focusing on transnational cooperation between Asia and New Zealand.

Engaging Community Dialogue

The discussion was moderated by Mary Xu and Noah Atchison-Darby, and attended by professionals from sectors including renewable energy, property development, international trade, finance, and education. Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations around topics such as energy transition, sustainable innovation, and community engagement.
