KIBC Hosts Opening Ceremony To Greet Global Students

November 1, 2024 – PwC Tower, Auckland, New Zealand

Kingston International Business College (KIBC) marked the beginning of a new academic journey with a vibrant Opening Ceremony held at its PwC Tower campus in central Auckland. The event brought together faculty, continuing students, and a new cohort of learners from across the globe, celebrating the start of an exciting new semester and reaffirming the college’s commitment to student success.

A Celebration Of New Beginnings

The ceremony began with a Māori welcome delivered by Ms. Mary Xu, Secretary of the KIBC Board of Trustees. Her warm, culturally grounded greeting set a tone of inclusion and belonging for all incoming students. This was followed by a keynote address from Mr. Kingsley Wang, Chief Executive Officer of KIBC, who introduced the academic leadership team and offered inspiring words of encouragement.

“This is not just the first day of class—it is the first step of your global business journey,” he remarked.

Insights From Industry: The Global Business Landscape

A highlight of the event was a guest talk by Mr. Chris Choi, Partner at Yingke Australia & New Zealand and Executive Advisor to KIBC. Drawing from his extensive experience in international business, Mr. Choi shared valuable insights into current global market trends, the evolving demands of employers, and the importance of business education in shaping career trajectories. He encouraged students to broaden their perspectives and engage actively in the learning process.

Academic Faculty Introductions

Three of KIBC’s PhD-level lecturers also took the stage to introduce their courses, outline their teaching philosophies, and invite students to explore learning beyond the textbook. Their presence underscored KIBC’s academic strength and its focus on delivering industry-relevant, research-informed education.

Student Support: A Strong Foundation For Success

Ms. Atiya Islam, Student Services Manager, introduced the wide range of academic and personal support services available at KIBC. From study advice to wellness and accommodation support, her message was clear:

“At Kingston, you are never alone. We are here to help you thrive—both inside and outside the classroom.”

Peer Perspective: Advice From A Fellow Student

To offer a student voice, current KIBC student Avkash shared his personal experiences with adapting to study life in New Zealand. His candid advice—on managing coursework, building relationships, and enjoying New Zealand’s unique culture—resonated deeply with the new cohort.

As the semester unfolds, KIBC remains committed to supporting every student’s academic and personal growth. Whether students focus on studies, explore Aotearoa’s breathtaking landscapes, or reconnect with family, the college community is here to ensure a fulfilling and successful journey.
