KIBC Students Gain Firsthand Business Insights During AEQ Furniture Industry Visit

As part of its commitment to practice-based learning and professional readiness, Kingston International Business College (KIBC) recently organized an industry visit to AEQ Furniture, a well-established local enterprise based in Mount Wellington. The visit offered students in the Postgraduate Diploma in Business program a valuable opportunity to observe how strategic principles are applied in real- world settings—and how businesses grow by responding to cultural needs and community dynamics.

A Business Built with Purpose

Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the founder of AEQ Furniture, who shared the story behind the company’s success. For over two decades, AEQ has provided elegant, affordable, and durable furniture to families across Auckland, with a particular focus on serving the needs of migrant communities. Her journey of entrepreneurship offered an inspiring example of how clarity of purpose, customer understanding, and cultural inclusiveness can drive long-term growth.
From sourcing and supply chains to product curation and customer service, students observed how operational efficiency and adaptability to market shifts are central to AEQ’s resilience in a competitive industry.

Learning Outcomes Beyond Observation

This visit was not simply an observational exercise. It served as a live case study that students will now reflect on through formal assignments, linking their experience at AEQ with key academic frameworks such as:
